What is the best time of day for a portrait session

Sessions are usually scheduled in the morning or evening, with consideration to sunrise and sunset times. For one hour sessions, suggested morning start times are usually within two hours of sunrise; suggested evening sessions are about an hour before sunset. However, there are exceptions for those traveling on cruise ships as we consider docking and departing times. In addition, there is consideration to those with babies and toddlers as we are mindful of napping and eating schedules. It's all about the babies! How do we decide on a location?

One of our goals is to make the photo-related process as easy as possible, which includes meeting you where you are. Whether you are staying at venues such as Baha Mar, Atlantis, One and Only Ocean Club,
Island House,  Melia Nassau Beach Resort, or anywhere in The Bahamas, we will find the most beautiful and convenient location for you.
If you are visiting on a cruise, the nearest public beach is Junkanoo Beach, which is about a15 minute walk from the Nassau Cruise Port. Or the public access, Cabbage Beach, on Paradise Island, which is about 5-10 minutes via taxi.

What if it rains?

This may be the most dreadful thought as people think about their destination event, but don't worry --you're in The Bahamas! This is a stress-free zone. If you book your destination wedding or event at a private resort, there is usually a co-ordinator assigned to your event, and will secure a weather back-up for you. At Cay Focus Photography, we are unable to shoot during heavy rains as it may damage our camera equipment, however, we try to be as flexible as possible. If we have room to reschedule a small portrait session, we will take that into consideration. If not, we will find an indoor location for you to have a wonderful and beautiful portrait session.

How many images can I expect?

We strongly believe in quality over quantity any day. Receiving a lot of images sounds nice, but receiving great images is nice. There is usually an estimated 30 per hour as we consider logistics throughout the shoot. However, there may be more or less depending on the flow of events and sessions.

How will my images be delivered and when can I expect them?

High resolution Jpeg Images are delivered via email with a private link and password. Depending on your selected package, you will either receive a view-only gallery or a digital download gallery. Portrait and event photography has an estimated 2 week turn around period. Wedding photography has an estimated 3-4 week turn around. If your package includes a photo album, once you have selected the appropriate number of photographs and submitted it to our email address, the design, print and delivery will be an estimated 4-6 weeks.

Will my photos be edited?

Absolutely! All photos from your session will be submitted for our editing process. They will undergo a culling and basic color correction process using the latest Lightroom software as our primary editing program. The following may either make you happy or sad: no image on our website is "photoshopped". We try to create a system of "getting it right in camera" and applying minimal retouching to alter the natural feel of photo. If advanced editing is requested, we will examine the request and process images in-house if possible. There may be an additional charge for retouching/advanced edits.
